THE RUN

RACE OVERVIEW

Get ready to hit the trails at Mikey’s Run, set against the scenic backdrop of Burnaby Lake. The course takes runners through a mix of wide, well-groomed trails and natural pathways, offering a beautiful and peaceful run surrounded by nature.

  • Kids’ 800m Fun Run @8:45am: A short, fun, and safe route designed for little runners to experience the joy of racing. Adults welcome to participate alongside their little one for extra support!

  • 5K Walk @10am: Walk it or run it! This 5k route will take us into the park for a scenic out and back along the north side of the trail.

  • 10K Run @9:30am: The route winds through the lush trails of Burnaby Lake, with gentle terrain and plenty of space to find your rhythm. The 10K course completes a full loop of the lake with water stations and plenty of signage and course marshals to ensure you can focus on the run and not worry about getting lost!

All races start and finish on the Burnaby Lake rugby fields, where spectators and supporters will be cheering you on. Whether you're running for a personal best, in memory of Mike, or simply to be part of something meaningful, this course is designed for everyone to enjoy.

OUR WHY

IN MEMORY OF MIKE

Mike was the kind of person who lit up a room. His quick wit, warm heart, and infectious smile made him someone everyone loved to be around. A devoted father, son, brother, husband, and friend, Mike was also a passionate runner who poured his energy into everything he did.

But even someone as strong and capable as Mike carried struggles beneath the surface. Like so many, he faced challenges quietly, not wanting to burden others. His story is a powerful reminder that mental health matters and that it’s okay to talk about what we’re going through.

This run is more than a tribute to Mike’s love of running—it’s a call to action. Let’s honour his legacy by creating space for openness, connection, and support. Together, we can help others feel safe to share their struggles and find the strength to reach out.

Let’s run for Mike, and for a future without stigma.
